Rains x La Marzocco: Italian Coffee Meets Danish Design

Danish brand Rains has teamed up with Italian espresso-machine manufacturer La Marzocco on a limited-edition collection centred around a rather good-looking take on the Linea Mini.

The collaboration sees La Marzocco’s home espresso machine reworked in brushed stainless steel, with details borrowed from the industrial interiors of Rains’ stores and headquarters in Aarhus. The familiar Linea Mini remains underneath, but the usual colour and gloss have been stripped away in favour of something considerably more utilitarian.

“Some things are useful. Some things are beautiful.
The best things are both.”
— Rains X La Marzocco

Alongside the machine is a waterproof barista apron made from Rains’ PU fabric, a set of cappuccino cups and HOME BOUND, a coffee developed with Danish roaster La Cabra.

At €12,000, the machine is unlikely to replace your countertop Nespresso anytime soon. But with its stripped-back stainless-steel finish and distinctly industrial character, it might just be the coffee machine equivalent of a Land Rover Defender – functional, utilitarian and difficult not to want.
