WHERE MONOCHROME MEETS MINIMAL // TID WATCHES

Now isn't this just jaw-droppingly pleasing for the eye.. Meet monochrome paired up with stripped down minimalism, in the form of a wrist watch. If you are a minimalism-conoissieur like me, you might have already come across the Stockholm based watch brand TID Watches - A company producing watches which are a staple in any minimalist's wardrobe. Since its start in 2012, TID has become a reputable brand across the world, praised for its paired back simplicity and clean-cut aesthetic. With TID No. 001 and No. 002 watches in various finishes under their wings, TID has just launched a new collaborative platform - TID Canvas - where selected artist and designers get the chance to reinterpret the TID No. 001 which will be launched in a limited edition on an annual basis.

Their first one being Canvas 001, launched at Salone del Mobile in Milan in April, was naturally taken back to the design studio who designed the original version - FUWL (FORM US WITH LOVE - you can find the SCANDINAVIALIST interview with them here) for them to re-interpret their own creation. And the result..? A stripped down, minimal, monochrome version where light and shadow plays with the embossed all white dial, functioning a stripped back canvas. A sleek semi-gloss black leather strap comes numbered and embossed as part of the limited run and pairs up beautifully with the matt black finish of the case. In other words, rather visually pleasing for the ultimate monochrome minimalist.

As part of the annual launch, TID will be handing over the No. 001 watch to be interpreted by a new designer, which this year was Stockholm based designer Clara von Zweigbergk who will have the honour of presenting her version, Canvas 002, at next years Salone del Mobile. Being know for her exceptional eye for geometry and colour, we wait in anticipation..
